ASF-P aims to eventually develop the four-pronged holistic approach first modelled in the ASF organisation in Bangladesh – that is a simultaneous provision of medical responses, rehabilitation for survivors, legal interventions and a prevention campaign.
Plans
- 50 more patients welcome in 2011 in the nursing and support unit.
- Enhance the international cooperation network for addressing the acid throwing issue.
- Nationwide quantitative survey on acid throwing.
- establish a national data base regarding acid violence in Pakistan.
- Raising awareness and developing prevention methods about acid throwing so that this crime could be eradicated from Pakistan.
- Inform people in Pakistan that ASF can assist acid survivors on 24 hour basis througha nation wide cooperation network.
- Acid survivors reintegrate the main stream of society and become independent proactive democratic Pakistani citizens.
- Advocacy and lobbying for implementation of law regarding acid sales regulation and monitoring.
- Advocacy and lobbying for amendments in the Pakistani Penal Code and a comprehensive law for acid attack perpetrators to be punished, and survivors being provided free rehabilitation services.
- Advocacy and lobbying for the child protection bill and the Domestic Violence Bill to be passedand implemented at grass root level.
